AP Cymru named Champion of Diversity 2026!
🏆 WE WON. WE ACTUALLY WON. 🏆
I’m still trying to take this in.
Last night, AP Cymru – The Neurodiversity Charity was named CHAMPION OF DIVERSITY 2026 at the Welsh Charity Awards. 💜
18 years ago, AP Cymru started with me, a mum who was struggling, frightened and desperately trying to understand a world that suddenly felt very different.
I didn’t have a grand plan. I just knew how lonely it felt, and I didn’t want another family to feel that alone.
And somehow, that little idea grew.
It grew into a community.
It grew into a team.
It grew into thousands of families knowing that there is somewhere they can turn where they will be heard, understood and, most importantly, BELIEVED.
At AP Cymru, diversity isn’t a project we deliver.
It’s who we are.
We don’t ask people to fit into systems that weren’t designed for them. We challenge those systems to do better.
And we will keep using our voices — and helping families use theirs — until neurodivergent people are not simply included, but genuinely understood, valued and able to belong.
This award belongs to every member of our incredible team, our trustees and volunteers, and every family who has trusted us with their story.
But I also keep thinking about that mum from 18 years ago. The one who wondered whether she was getting everything wrong.
I wish I could go back and tell her: Keep going.
Because one day, you’ll be standing there holding an award that says:
AP Cymru – The Neurodiversity Charity
Champion of Diversity 2026.
And you’ll realise that everything you went through helped build somewhere that tells other families the words you needed to hear yourself:
WE BELIEVE YOU.
I am so unbelievably proud of us.
We bloody did it. 🏆
