AP Cymru are delighted to announce a new Ambassador for the charity - Peter Heathcote.

Peter Heathcote is a passionate advocate for inclusion, wellbeing, community engagement, and charitable causes. Drawing upon a lifetime of public service, volunteering, and personal experience, he is dedicated to helping individuals and communities overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

A keen adventurer, horseman, and campaigner, Peter has undertaken challenging activities around the world, including riding across the Andes in Peru, horseback safaris in Botswana, and exploring Mexico’s jungles. His belief in embracing life and encouraging others to do the same has become a defining feature of his work and advocacy.

Following a major heart attack in January 2025, Peter experienced first-hand the life-saving impact of specialist cardiac care and rehabilitation. Determined to turn his experience into something positive, he became an active fundraiser and ambassador for cardiac rehabilitation services, helping raise awareness of the vital support available to patients and their families. His fundraising efforts have supported equipment and services that improve patient care and recovery across South Wales.

Peter is also recognised for his work promoting the benefits of horses and animal-assisted interventions in supporting confidence, wellbeing, and neurodiversity. His advocacy led to a unique visit to Westminster, where he helped showcase the positive impact that horses can have in supporting individuals and communities. The visit brought together parliamentarians, community leaders, and international representatives to discuss inclusion and wellbeing.

As an Ambassador, Peter combines lived experience, compassion, and determination with a genuine commitment to helping others. He is a strong believer that adversity can be transformed into opportunity and that everyone deserves the chance to live a fulfilling life, contribute to their community, and be valued for who they are.

Through his ambassadorial work, Peter continues to inspire others with his message of resilience, inclusion, adventure, and hope, using his voice to champion causes that make a lasting difference to people’s lives.

Peter is the father of three neurodivergent children one of whom also has Tourette’s syndrome. Peter himself has been assessed as ADHD and is now on the waitlist for a formal diagnosis.

Peter is currently an Ambassador for…

The Gwent cardiac rehabilitation trust fund (registered charity)

Beewell CIO (registered charity)
