Welcome to the very first edition of the AP Cymru Newsletter!

Here you’ll find important updates, inspiring stories, upcoming events, and information about all the ways we can support you and your family. You’ll also discover simple ways to get involved — from fundraising or volunteering to simply helping us spread the word about the work we do.

As Chief Executive of AP Cymru, I’m so proud of the difference we make together. Every year, we support hundreds of children, young people and families across Wales. We understand that the journey around diagnosis can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we want every family to know they are not alone. From pre-diagnosis guidance and practical advice, to wellbeing sessions, training and exclusive family activities — we’re here with you every step of the way.

This newsletter will give you a glimpse into the heart of our charity — the incredible families we work with, the dedication of our amazing staff and volunteers, and the strong partnerships that help us reach even more families across Wales.

Superstar of the Month

We are proud to launch our Superstar of the Month, where we celebrate the incredible dedication and hard work of our volunteers. Each month we will share with you an amazing person who gives of their time and energy to support children, young people and families across Wales.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and this is our way of saying thank you. If you’d like to get involved, you can volunteer with us at any time. Whether it’s a few hours or a regular commitment, your support makes a huge difference. You can nominate a member of AP Cymru each month between the 1st and 21st of each month. Please email enquiries@apcymru.org.uk.

Our support services

AP Cymru offers a wide range of support services for families. We provide one to one parent clinics, giving parents and carers a place to talk through challenges and access advice from people with lived experience. Our wellbeing groups and workshops bring families together, helping to reduce isolation and build confidence.

We also deliver training to schools, professionals and businesses, promoting better understanding and inclusion. Families can receive guidance, signposting, as well as tailored support before, during and after diagnosis.

Our team also accompanies parents to important meetings when needed, ensuring they feel supported and heard. Everything we do is designed to empower families and create a strong, inclusive community where no one feels alone.

Ways you can support us

There are lots of ways you can support AP Cymru and help us continue our vital work with families across Wales. You can make a one off or regular donation, knowing every penny goes directly to supporting children, young people and their families. You can also fundraise for us by organising your own activities or taking part in our charity events.

Becoming a business partner or choosing AP Cymru as your Charity of the Year is another fantastic way to help us.

Upcoming events

AP Cymru has an exciting programme of upcoming events designed to bring the community together whilst raising vital funds and awareness.

We are looking forward to community fundraisers, coffee mornings, quizzes and special events where families can meet and share experiences. Our training sessions for parents, schools and businesses continue throughout the year, offering valuable knowledge and practical support.
